AHAM BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING Attendance: President – Tom Connelly; Secretary - Judy Zumbach; Treasurer - Ron Gekiere; Mary Imielowski; Cheryl Dulac; Terri Delbridge; Jerry Wurtsmith; Chad Roberts; Laura Brodzik; Hank Ely Administrative Asst – Clara Burns Guests: Sally Rushlow; Si Burns; Susan Tuck; Grace Glozier; Andrew Dzyngel; Jack Glozier Absent: Betty Horst; Vice President - Ann Knoop Introduction of Guests and Guest Comments: Additions to Agenda: Minutes of April Meeting: Motion to accept the minutes by Ron Gekiere; 2 nd by Terri Delbridge. Motion passed Correspondence: Tom Connelly had a copy of the Modern Arabian magazine which is the new name for the AHA magazine. Pam Kittredge has asked us to critique the new magazine. Please get back to Pam with any suggestions or feedback on the name of the magazine. There is a motion to change the name back and any future changes must be approved by the AHA board of directors. Tom received a Thank you card from Laura Brodzik and her family Jean Utley asked AHAM for mailing labels in alphabet order for the Michigan Horse Council. Ron Gekiere made motion to send labels to Jean for a $25 charge; 2 nd by Cheryl Dulac. Motion passed. Membership Report: - Clara Burns As of 5/9, 287 senior members, 44 3-year members, 2 life members and 73 junior members. Sent out a total of 462 newsletters. Received only 1 membership form back Clara read a statement regarding the $25 charge in order to qualify for year end awards. Asked the question - How many people do we have that did this? No one last year took part in this $25 fee. We will re-look at this rule for next year for year end awards. Jerry Wurtsmith made a motion to pay $650 for Dr. Rooker’s life membership. Ron Gekiere 2 nd the motion. Motion passed. Treasurers Report: - Ron Gekiere No report at this time. Jerry Wurtsmith motion to accept the treasurer’s report; 2 nd by Cheryl Dulac. Motion passed. Dressage/Sport Horse Report: - Judy Zumbach Meeting next week or the week after. Organizing a clinic for the Friday before August show. Directors/Officers Insurance: Nothing to report at this time Michigan All Arab Committee Clara Burns reported 300 entries; 2 cancelled out before close; suggestions/complaints sheets were put up in 3 different locations. Nothing was turned in to the show office and no complaints received. Have a new photographer – depending on which competitors you talked to some felt okay; some felt nay. They charged $25 for an 8x10. We will also be receiving a disc for our website. New blacksmith – arena people not happy with him. Another blacksmith suggested and will come for August show. DJ – Scott Christmas new this year and good job and good price. Hired for August show and May show in 2008. 106 people attended the hot dog dinner. A suggestion was made that we drop the coolers for next year. Ron Gekiere reported for Ann on the sale of the AHAM Gear. It went very well. Almost all of the hoodies were sold. Additional clothing order will be placed . Approximately $1421 was brought in No news on the Raffle – same as last month. We will be splitting the profits. Drawing at August show. Board Comments: We need some more money-making ideas to help bring in revenue. Suggestion made that we bring ideas back to our August/September meeting. There will not be a June or July meeting. Next meeting will be August 9 th. Judy Zumbach will be sending out emails for newsletter items for June. Let’s include an “Amateur spotlight”. Chad Roberts will do a Trainers Tip. Vet tips or articles would be great in each newsletter. Grace Glozier to send an article for the newsletter Michigan Equine Committee We are not pursuing this further. Guest Comments: Grace Glozier indicated that Clara did a super job with stalls and with the May show in general. New Business Announcements: Clara looking for volunteers for Mason Area Chamber of commerce show to sell AHAM wear. Hank requesting that we pitch in and help out the Futurities. We were the only club last year that did not help out. Hank Ely made a motion to donate $250 to the Futurity,. 2 nd by Terri Delbridge. Motion passed. Futurity would want to use AHAM’s center ring. Motion to let Futurity use the ring was made by Hank Ely, 2 nd by Judy Zumbach. Motion passed. Motion to adjourn made by Jerry Wurtsmith; seconded by Cheryl Dulac. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned.
